Perrone Construction’s founder, Richard Perrone, worked from the ground up as a trim carpenter before establishing his now successful company specializing in custom luxury waterfronts. To get an idea of the market for luxury homes in Sarasota, Fla., Richard Perrone started a trim carpentry company, and on nights and weekends, studied for his contractor’s license. His hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed.

“While working late one night installing trim on a project, the home’s owner recognized Rich’s dedication and integrity and told him that once Rich received his contractor’s license, he would be recommending a friend of his to build with the newly formed Perrone Construction,” Vice President Ricky Perrone says.

The project was a large Sarasota waterfront luxury home that upon selling to its second owner, set a record for the highest price ever paid for a home in Sarasota County. Perrone Construction was founded when Richard Perrone relocated from the east coast of Florida where he had worked as a superintendent for a luxury oceanfront builder. As word of the company’s honesty, integrity, customer satisfaction and attention to detail spread, Perrone Construction quickly gained a reputation and was sought after as a quality builder of luxury waterfront custom homes.

As one of the most reputable custom home builders in Sarasota, the company is dedicated to providing only the best quality service. Today the company continues in Sarasota, working on the area’s custom home design and construction, condominium remodels and home renovations.

Perrone Construction’s founder, Richard Perrone, worked from the ground up as a trim carpenter before establishing his now successful company specializing in custom luxury waterfronts.“Homes are designed by some of our area’s finest architects,” Perrone says. “We are primarily a waterfront builder sought after for waterfront expertise and have only built a handful of homes in 34 years that were not located on the waterfront.”

The company’s main area of business is the shoreline of Sarasota County. It build a variety of styles and works to coordinate the construction team including the architect and interior designers. Recently, the majority of the company’s homes have been Georgian, British West Indies, Dutch West Indies and Coastal styles. As a custom home builder, the company’s price point varies based on what clients choose to include in their homes.

“We have several very nice projects under construction currently,” Perrone says. “Some of the ones we are very excited about include a large Dutch West Indies home on the bay front of Siesta Key with a guesthouse; sort of a family compound in a neighborhood of West Indies architecture.”

Another current project is one of Sarasota’s most desired streets, Norsota Way, on Siesta Key. It is roughly an 8,000-square-foot home that takes its design cues from the Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

“We have just begun a very nice Mediterranean-style home on an acre on the bay front in Nokomis,” Perrone says. “It has an incredible architectural design with three outbuildings that are garages for the owner, a car enthusiast.”

The company does not share the costs of its clients’ homes but the majority of its homes tend to be between 370 and 550 per square foot of air-conditioned space.

One of the homes built by Perrone Construction won SRQ Home of the Year for its Dutch West Indies style. It was built as a model home and sold very quickly for $2.25 million, according to Perrone. Additionally, the company built the largest LEED-certified home in Sarasota at 8,123 square feet.

The company currently has 12 employees with an office located in central Sarasota and a second office located in downtown Sarasota.Perrone Construction’s founder, Richard Perrone, worked from the ground up as a trim carpenter before establishing his now successful company specializing in custom luxury waterfronts. As the son of Richard Perrone, Ricky Perrone began assisting on job sites for Perrone Construction in the summers when he was 13 years old. Each consecutive summer afterwards he was given more responsibility, from installing rigid insulation, to framing, to apprenticeship, to trim carpenter, to superintendent’s assistant and then, finally, to superintendent.

Today, Perrone Construction is LEED accredited and LEED Silver certified while paying close attention to Florida certifications. The company is also Florida Power & Light Company Buildsmart certified and Florida Green Building Coalition Platinum certified.

“Our ability to coordinate the entire team from owners to architects to interior designers is part of what makes us unique,” Perrone says. “We facilitate the flow of information and are proactive in gathering and sharing information. Our attention to detail is also very unique.”

The company is known for its exacting standards, and its subcontractors understand how to meet its expectations.

“We are extremely detail-oriented and require the best of the subcontractors we work with, whom are already considered some of the best in their respective fields,” Perrone says. “It’s about setting a very high bar and keeping it there.”

This carries over to the company’s customer communication. Perrone Construction has highly developed systems for sharing information with its customers, according to Perrone. Its team works closely to understand individual needs, morphing its systems to match those needs.

“We offer a concierge level of service in waterfront luxury custom home construction and we want people who are looking for that to be able to find us,” Perrone says.

The company hopes to continue to strengthen the reputation it has built in Sarasota over the past 34 years. Looking to the future, its goal is to build its brand awareness while continuing to get in front of the right potential clients.
